Projects update 10182016

Infinite list of projects is almost down by one.
Spent a few months getting this great truck back on its feet. Its a Dodge B-2-C-116 (translation, 1950, 3/4 ton, long bed) pickup truck.
Before:

After:

Ok, not much difference that you can see in these pictures, but work done so far:

  • disc brake conversion up front (thanks to previous owner)
  • dual chamber master (with power booster) on firewall
  • all new brake pads and shoes, brake lines
  • new fuel tank
  • overhauled 218 engine
    • reground crank (.010, .010), new rod and main bearings
    • new pistons and rings (std)
    • new oil pump
    • new fuel pump
    • rebuilt carburetor
    • new timing chain
    • new water pump
    • new water distribution tube
    • new front and rear seals
    • head planed and new head gasket
    • added oil filter (old one, but it didn't have one before)
    • new belt, plugs, wires, battery
  • 12v alternator
  • all new wiring
  • turn signals
  • all new glass
  • new heat gauge
  • pertronix ignition distributor upgrade
  • new coil
  • spring shackles replaced
  • new seats with built in seatbelts (from a Ford Transit)
  • new tires (on old Dodge 16" wheels)
  • updated (slightly) synchromesh 4 speed
  • new(ish) clutch, new throwout bearing
  • all new exhaust system
Runs great and I highly recommend the disc brake upgrade. I'm not crazy about putting the master and booster on the firewall though. If (when) I do it again I'm going to try putting it all under the floor on the frame.
Next phase will be getting a pickup body on it. That stake body is borrowed from another truck (project) and needs to be returned.
Gonna need a cup holder, too.

Also starting another flathead 6 (can never have too many):
Yeah, I know the color is wrong, but that's the closest I'm going to get to owning a hemi. This one is a 230 out of a '56 Dodge. My dad took this out of a car back in the late 50's and it has been in pieces in various barns ever since. I'm going to put a high performance cam (from Vintage Power Wagons), but everything else will be stock.
Progress!
